Celebrating Welsh food and drink

24 @specialityfood Crwst CATRIN & OSIAN JONES Crwst began in 2016 as a humble home bakery, when founders Catrin and Osian started baking in their kitchen and selling to local shops and farmers’ markets. The business has since grown into a thrivingWelsh food business with four cafés acrossWest Wales, an off-site bakery supplying fresh bread and bakes to Crwst’s own sites and others, and a production facility where the teamcreates award-winning caramels, granolas and hot chocolates – now stocked by independents across the UK, including Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum&Mason. Crwst’s range reflects the same values that shaped their beginnings: quality, craft and a deep commitment to the small Welsh producers who supply them. What sets Crwst apart is not only their focus on handmade, high-quality products, but their passion for showcasing the incredible ingredients, heritage and talent found inWales. Being proudlyWelsh is at the heart of everything Crwst does, and they are driven to share the flavours of their homeland with customers near and far. crwst.cymru AMBIENT Country Fresh Eggs VICTORIA SHERVINGTON Country Fresh Eggs only supplies their local region in SouthWales, keeping foodmiles lowand ensuring their eggs reach customers quickly and efficiently. Creating a stress-free environment for their hens also leads to a better-quality egg, and their 39,500 birds roam freely at just 1,000 hens per acre, with space to scratch, perch and shelter. Country Fresh Eggs offers two ranges in pre packs: The Retro pack and the newEggs &Acorns Pack. Oak Trees have always been a very important part of Country Fresh Eggs at TyMawr Farm. When David Shervington, founder of CFE, passed away in 2009 his ashes were spread in 10 different oaks trees around the farm, in the hope that hewould always bewatching over the farm. The team is always looking at ways to reducewaste and have recently invested in plastic packaging. This is 100%recyclable through their system, therefore reducingwastewith pulp packaging. They are also looking in the future at electrifying their fleet, and regularly reviewing routes to optimise fuel consumption. Themost exciting thing in the pipeline at themoment is the Acorn Project: Eggs &Acorns – a plan to growone acorn for every 500 hens = 80 trees and provide saplings to local primary schools and communities. countryfresheggs.co.uk
